Refugee Resettlement Office offers two micro-enterprise programs to help you start your own business: New Roots Fund and Refugee Childcare Micro-Enterprise Program
New Roots Fund
Our micro-enterprise programs are funded by the federal office of refugee resettlement, a New Roots Fund is an affiliate of RRO. Refugees and asylees living in the US are eligible.
A New Roots Fund loan can help refugees and asylees pay for business expenses, such as equipment, tools, inventory, and working capital. Existing businesses and new businesses are eligible. The New Roots Fund program also offers business technical assistance. You do not need to be fluent in English to be a successful entrepreneur. Loans can range from $200 to $15,000.

- Taxi or transportation business
- Retail enterprise
- Adult family home business
- Beauty salon

Refugee Childcare Micro-Enterprise Program
Our Refugee Childcare Micro-Enterprise Program is also funded by the federal office of refugee resettlement.
Refugee childcare grants are offered in partnership with the Washington State Department of Early Learning. Through this program, refugees and asylees can receive money to start a home-based childcare business. Refugee and asylees interested in starting a home based daycare should contact us about childcare training and start-up grants.
